About NeuroKIND
Neurodivergent-led.Community-centred.Connection-focused.
The NeuroKIND Community (formerly Peninsula Autism Friendship Group) provides connection and support for neurodivergent individuals and their families.
Our mission
The NeuroKIND Community exists to make the neurodivergent journey less isolating - building spaces where people of all ages can find connection, community, and a sense of belonging.
Our story
NeuroKIND began in 2015 as the Peninsula Autism Friendship Group - a small community of families on the Mornington Peninsula who wanted something simple: a safe, welcoming place for their kids to connect with others who understood.
Over time, that vision grew. We expanded to support teens, adults, and carers - and we changed our name to reflect the broader neurodivergent community we had become. Today, NeuroKIND runs groups across the Peninsula and south-east Melbourne, supporting neurodivergent people and their families each year.
We are a not-for-profit organisation. Our community groups are free to attend, and our NDIS-funded programs are priced to cover the real cost of what we provide - including paying our neurodivergent mentors fairly for their work, creating meaningful employment within the community we serve.
Who runs NeuroKIND?
NeuroKIND is run by neurodivergent people, for neurodivergent people. Our facilitators and volunteers are part of the same community they serve - many are autistic, ADHD, or otherwise neurodivergent themselves.
We believe this matters. When young people see neurodivergent adults living full, connected lives, it changes what they think is possible for themselves. Our groups are not just social spaces - they are places where neurodivergent identity is celebrated, not just accommodated.
Our vision and values
We would like to see a world where the neurodivergent journey is less isolating - where no matter your age or stage of diagnosis, you are part of a community that understands.
We are a neurodivergent-led organisation and believe in the importance of neurodivergent young people having neurodivergent mentors to learn from and connect with.
Neurodivergent voices first
As a neurodivergent-led organisation, we believe in strengthening and upholding neurodivergent voices and advocating for diversity in the wider community.
Show up as you are
We believe in showing up authentically, exactly as you are - and having the space and grace to make mistakes and try again.
Community that understands
No matter your age or stage of diagnosis, you deserve to be part of a community that truly gets it. That is what we are here to build.
Neurodivergent mentors
We believe in the importance of neurodivergent young people having neurodivergent mentors to learn from, look up to, and connect with.
Local and accessible
We run groups across the Mornington Peninsula and south-east Melbourne, with free community groups and NDIS-funded options.
Safe, low-demand spaces
Every group we run is designed to reduce pressure and sensory demands - so people can participate in whatever way works for them.
Emergency support
The NeuroKIND Community does not provide emergency support. If you or a loved one require assistance, please contact one of these services.
Come and find your people
Please contact us if you would like any more information about joining one of our groups, or if you have any other questions.
